Laura Kahle was born in Michigan, USA, raised in QLD, Australia and moved to Brooklyn New York in 2004, where she currently resides.

Arranged the music of Jeff “Tain” Watts for the grand re-opening of the legendary Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen, performed by Tain and an ensemble of Danish/Swedish all-stars. May 1-5.

Arranger for the Danish Radio Big Band featuring Jeff “Tain” Watts. CD “The Impaler” available now!!
Commissioned by Jazz Queensland to compose music for the Q150 celebrations. Performed by the West End Composers Collective at The Powerhouse, Brisbane May 2010.

2008
Awarded a Fellowship in Music Composition by the New York Foundation for the Arts.

2007
Arranged the music of Gil Evans for the Branford Marsalis Septet featuring Jeff “Tain” Watts, Delfeayo Marsalis, Terrell Stafford and Joey Calderazzo. Performed in The Allen Room, NY for the Golden Pen Festival.
2006
Arranger for Wynton Marsalis & The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra featuring Jeff “Tain” Watts for the Festival of Pittsburgh.
Composed, conducted and performed the score for short film

2004
Released the CD Downstream with my original music performed by the West End Composers Collective.
2003
Received a Master of Music Studies in composition from the QLD Conservatorium of Music, Australia.
Studied with Gerard Brophy.
2002
Commissioned by Pinnacles Festival of Music to compose new music for 10 piece band. Premiered at The Zoo, Brisbane, Australia.
2000
Performed with Diva Big Band. NY, PA & Florida.
1999
Received a Bachelor of Music in jazz trumpet from the QLD Conservatorium of Music, Australia.
Studied trumpet with John Hoffman.
Member of the QLD Con Artists Big Band.
